I am planning my Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 upgrade – moving the OS from 2003 to 2008 R2 at the same time.

I don’t have a spare “server” but have several well specced workstations I have put in place running 2008 R2 as temporary servers.

My intention is to install Exchange 2010 on a temporary box and move all mailboxes over, then flatten the old 2003 server and rebuild it as 2010 and move all mailboxes back over.

My question after that ramble, is – I want to keep the mail server’s name the same when it’s running 2010 as it is when running 2003. My temporary server I am putting 2010 on for the upgrade is obviously going to have a different name so is there anything special I need to do after I rebuild the “real server” and put 2010 on or is it just a case of move mailboxes over and clients will find them?

All clients are running XP Pro with Outlook 2003.

    Thanks in advance.
