I am in the process of installing SBS 2011 and the 2011 Premium Add-on to run the customer’s LOB software on the second machine along with Remote Desktop Services.
We have one physical server for this install (quad core CPU, 16GB Ram, 600GB of SAS usable space). As far as I understand it, it’s not supported to first install SBS 2011 and then run the second server in a Hyper-V.
So my only choice is to first install Server 2008 R2 Standard (in a standalone workgroup) using the included physical license, then install SBS 2011 as a virtual in Hyper-V and then parallel to that, another virtual 2008 R2 Standard in Hyper-V.
Is that correct? Is that essentially my only option? Thoughts?
