Azure Copilot introduces agentic automation to transform cloud management at scale.
Key Takeaways:
Cloud operations are evolving from manual workflows to intelligent automation. Azure Copilot now integrates agentic capabilities that streamline migration, deployment, and optimization at enterprise scale.
Microsoft announced today six new agents to help IT teams streamline each stage of the cloud management lifecycle. These specialized agents are designed to handle complex tasks such as modernizing legacy applications, reducing technical debt, and accelerating cloud readiness. They are integrated directly into the Azure portal, PowerShell, and Command Line Interface (CLI).
“The assistive capabilities of Azure Copilot that you rely on remain at the heart of the experience. Previously, Copilot in Azure was a conversational AI assistant to help you get started, explore Azure, and get questions answered, but now, we go one step further and allow you to work with agents who can perform chain-of-though reasoning, plan, and execute actions on your behalf with human in the loop,” explained Annie Pearl, CVP and GM, Azure Experiences & Ecosystems.

The enhanced Azure Copilot experience provides a more integrated way to manage cloud operations. It offers a personalized, context-aware interface embedded directly into workflows, supporting chat, console, and CLI. Moreover, a new Operations Center provides a unified dashboard for observability, resiliency, optimization, and security. Agent Mode offers multi-step reasoning and transparent execution to give users greater control and clarity.
The new Azure Copilot agents offer the following capabilities:
According to Microsoft, Azure Copilot and its agentic capabilities honour all existing role-based access controls, Azure Policy, and compliance frameworks. Moreover, it introduces Bring Your Own Storage (BYOS) for conversation and artifact data control. Azure Copilot also requires explicit user approval before making any changes.
To get started with Azure Copilot, global administrators will need to opt in through the Azure Copilot admin center. Once enabled, users can access Agent Mode directly in Azure Copilot chat. Microsoft encourages organizations to provide feedback via this early-access form.
