Microsoft Edge for Business to support full PDF translation in over 70 languages.
Key Takeaways:
Microsoft has announced major enhancements to its Edge for Business experience at the Build 2025 conference. One of the major highlights of these updates is Agents in Microsoft 365, designed to automate routine tasks and deliver smarter, more relevant results to users.
“For example, Sales Assistant Agent will generate leads, track customer interactions and offer sales insights. Agents will be available in early June through Copilot Chat in the Microsoft Edge for Business sidebar and will enable users to access them without leaving the page and breaking their flow,” Microsoft explained.
In Microsoft Edge for Business, Microsoft 365 Copilot chat allows users to summarize online Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents. This feature is currently available in the Edge’s sidebar, which helps users to understand complex information, save time, and maintain focus. It’s currently available in preview for customers with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license.
Microsoft has introduced new web content filtering capabilities in preview for education customers and small businesses in Edge for Business. This security feature allows IT admins to control what websites employees can access when using the browser. They can block millions of inappropriate or harmful websites by selecting categories.
Administrators can configure this feature in the Edge management service through the Microsoft 365 admin center. There is also the ability to access reporting capabilities via Power BI. The web content filtering feature is available for managed Windows 11 and Windows 10 PCs. A Microsoft 365 Education or Business Premium subscription and Microsoft Intune are required to configure this option in Microsoft Edge for Business.
Lastly, Microsoft Edge is getting enhanced PDF translation capabilities that will allow users to translate full pages of PDFs from more than 70 languages. Users can open a PDF document, select the Translate option from the address bar, and then generate a fully translated version of the document in their preferred language.
Microsoft is currently testing the PDF translation feature in Edge for Business with Canary Insiders. This capability is expected to become generally available for all users next month.
