Microsoft Intune update simplifies device management and strengthen security across Android and iOS.
Key Takeaways:
Microsoft has rolled out a series of enhancements for Intune customers in April 2025. Key updates include custom naming for Android devices, advanced iOS security controls, and a more efficient integration with Apple’s Volume Purchase Program API.
Microsoft has announced that administrators can create custom naming templates for Android Enterprise devices during enrollment. Up until now, devices had to be renamed manually after enrollment, which could lead to inconsistent reporting, confusion, and inefficiencies.
This new feature allows IT admins to include fixed strings of text or device-specific variables in device names. This approach helps ensure that all devices follow a consistent naming pattern and makes it easier to identify and manage devices. This capability is now generally available for all eligible tenants. Microsoft plans to add support for all eligible Android Open Source Project (AOSP) devices in a future update.
Microsoft has also highlighted a couple of new iOS management features designed to enhance the security of unmanaged devices. The latest update brings a new feature that allows IT admins to block screen capture within the Apple Intelligence app.
Back in January, Microsoft added controls to allow/block screen capture for existing managed apps. This new feature lets administrators decide whether to allow/block screen capture functions specifically within the Apple Intelligence app to enhance security and control over sensitive information. Moreover, organizations can decide whether to allow or block Apple Intelligence tools (like Writing Tools and Genmojis) within apps.
Microsoft Intune is now using the updated version of Apple’s Volume Purchase Program (VPP) API. Previously, updating applications required 25,000 individual requests. With VPP API version 2.0, the same task can be accomplished with just 10 requests.
Administrators will be able to view any changes made in Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager within Microsoft Intune almost immediately. Up until now, updates would only occur after a synchronization process that could cause delays.
