M365 Changelog: (Updated) Loop Component in Outlook Mobile

MC548102 – Updated August 2, 2023: Microsoft has updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

Loop components are live, interactive, collaborative objects that you can embed in team chats and now also on emails. When you send a Loop component, everyone in the email can view it inline, see changes instantly, and easily make edits. That means you can collaborate directly inside of an email message. Outlook Mobile users will see a live preview of the Loop component — with changes made across supported apps synced instantly — and then be able to click to edit it in the Microsoft 365 Office mobile app or Loop mobile app.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 124259

When this will happen:

Microsoft will begin rolling the viewing experience to Outlook Mobile on iOS and Android to all audiences in early May and expect rollout to be complete by late August 2023 (previously late July).

How this will affect your organization:

Users who receive emails with Loop components will be able to view the contents of the component in a preview within the Outlook Mobile app and will have quick and easy abilities to make edits.

Note: Loop components are enabled ON by default to organizations.

If you disable the component for your organization, users will still see the component, however, it will not work when users try to view the content.

What you need to do to prepare:

Loop components do not currently support eDiscovery workflows. If your organization leverages eDiscovery workflows, evaluate the risks. If you currently have this feature OFF for your organization, this update will not affect you and will remain OFF for your organization. To disable this feature for your organization, follow the instructions outlined in this article: Manage Loop components in SharePoint.
