M365 Changelog: Organizational Data in Microsoft 365

MC690182 – Organizational Data in Microsoft 365 is a new capability that will be available worldwide for use with your Microsoft 365 Subscription. This new capability allows you to upload organizational data from HR information systems via .csv file to power a variety of capabilities and features across Viva and Microsoft 365. Apps and features like Viva Amplify, Viva Insights, People card, etc. rely on Organizational data to power high value capabilities and new scenarios. Tenants will be able to power Viva Amplify reporting, new displays on employees People cards, and more personalized experiences in Viva and in Microsoft 365

When this will happen:

Microsoft will begin rolling out in late November 2023 and expect to complete by early January 2024.

How this will affect your organization:

Once rolled out, admins will be able to onboard the .csv file through the Microsoft 365 admin center. The feature can be found by navigating to the Microsoft 365 Admin center. From there navigate to the setup tab, and click on the Migrations and Imports collection. In the collection you can find the entrance point for Organizational Data in Microsoft 365.

Organizational Data in Microsoft 365 is built on top of Microsoft’s current commitments to data security and privacy in the enterprise. There is no change to these commitments. Organizational Data in Microsoft 365 is integrated into Microsoft 365 and adheres to all existing privacy and compliance obligations.

What you need to do to prepare:

No action is required. If you are looking to ingest Organizational data it is recommended to reach out to your HR Admin to discuss importing Organization data. Documentation will be published prior to GA and communicated via message center + be available at learn.microsoft.com.
