Microsoft has announced the general availability of Windows 365 Link that launched in public preview in November 2024. This device is currently available for customers based in Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Windows 365 Link is the first Cloud PC hardware device that allows users to connect to cloud-based Windows 11 or Windows 10 virtual machines. This small PC comes with three USB-A ports, one USB-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, HDMI and DisplayPort connections, an Ethernet jack, and a Kensington lock port. It includes Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 6E and supports two 4K-resolution monitors.

“The devices can be set up in minutes, require minimal configuration and are familiar for IT to manage using Microsoft Intune. End users – particularly desk-based or frontline workers in shared workspaces – can efficiently sign in to access their Windows 365 Cloud PCs, work securely with responsive, high-fidelity experiences and leave no data on the local devices when they sign out,” Microsoft explained.

Windows 365 Link features an Intel CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage, delivering reliable performance for everyday tasks. It supports high-quality video meetings on Microsoft Teams and Cisco Webex to ensure smooth communication. Windows 365 Link is priced at $349, which is approximately £265 and C$490.

Windows 365 Frontline adds a new shared mode

Microsoft has also launched a new shared mode for Windows 365 Frontline customers. This new shared device mode is designed for workers who require access to a Cloud PC to perform specific tasks for a short time during their workday. Users can sign in to their Windows PC to complete tasks, access data, and use applications, with their profile data automatically deleted after each session.

Windows 365 Disaster Recovery Plus and other updates

Windows 365 Disaster Recovery Plus is hitting general availability for commercial customers this month. This service launched in preview last month to help customers quickly bring Cloud PCs back online in case of an outage. Microsoft says that Cloud PC tenants with up to 50,000 Cloud PCs in a region can expect recovery within 30 minutes.

Microsoft has also launched Windows 365 migration API to facilitate the seamless transfer of data and applications from existing systems to Windows 365 Cloud PCs. It supports various migration scenarios, such as moving data from on-premises servers, other cloud services, or legacy systems.

Lastly, Microsoft announced the general availability of Windows App for Android with several new capabilities, including enhancements for the Home Screen, full support for Chrome OS, and access to the Government cloud. Windows App on Android is also getting Mobile Application Management (MAM) support, allowing organizations to manage and protect their data without enrolling in device management.
