M365 Changelog: (Updated) Outlook – Support Pop-up Messages in Outlook that Warn/Justify/Block Emails Being sent with Sensitivity Labels

MC522574 – Updated July 13, 2023: Microsoft has updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

Outlook for desktop native sensitivity labeling will support oversharing pop-up dialogue as am AIP plug-in to warn, justify or block emails being sent.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 100255

When this will happen:

Preview: Microsoft will begin rolling out in early March and expect to complete rollout by late March.

Standard Release: Microsoft will begin rolling out in early April and expect to complete rollout by late July (previously early July).

How this will affect your organization:

If you do not configure the Data Loss Prevention policies to enable policy tips for emails with sensitivity labels, this will not impact you.

If your organization is currently using the AIP UL Add-in for oversharing pop-up, then Microsoft encourages you to configure the Data Loss Prevention policies and migrate your oversharing label policy to the Outlook MIP build in.

What you need to do to prepare:

At this time, there is no action required from you, however, Microsoft will continue to provide updates on action items.

As the first stage, Outlook desktop will only support these pop-up messages for the Data Loss Prevention rule regarding sending emails externally with specific emails and attachment labels.
