M365 Changelog: We’re improving Microsoft Search with personal query history

MC223795 – Updated February 12, 2021: Based on early feedback we have made some changes which has delayed our rollout. The rollout timeline has been updated below. Thank you for your patience.

As announced at Ignite, we’re adding a new option in Microsoft Search that allows users to view and manage their personal query history.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 68782.

When this will happen

  • We will begin rolling out personal query history to Targeted Release customers in late March (previously November).
  • We will begin rolling out to Standard Release customers in April (previously late December) and expect to complete the rollout by late April (previously March).

How this will affect your organization

With personal query history, users will see recent search queries across SharePoint Online and Outlook (web) as they begin typing in the search box.

This prompt makes it easier to return to recently accessed insights and information. No need to bookmark or memorize your frequent queries.

Personal query history is managed and downloaded through the Microsoft 365 My Account settings.

A new option in the My Account privacy controls enables employees to manage their personal query history, such as downloading their history for future reference.

What you need to do to prepare
