M365 Changelog: Microsoft Viva Connections News Notifications

MC559932 – Viva Connections is introducing mobile push notifications for SharePoint news.

Notifications will be delivered to users via the Teams app when Viva Connections is installed and when:

• News is published to a SharePoint site a user follows or visits frequently.
• Someone comments on a News post the user authored.
• Someone has ‘Liked’ a News post the user authored.
• The user is @ mentioned in a comment on a news post.

When opened, notifications will take users directly to the news content in the Viva Connections app.

When this will happen:

Standard Release: Microsoft will begin rolling out in early June and expect to complete rollout by mid-June.

How this will affect your organization:

These notifications will only affect end-users who have the Viva Connections application installed in Teams mobile.

Users who have Teams notifications disabled will not see notifications from Viva Connections and Teams ‘quiet hours’ will be respected as well.

What you need to do to prepare:

There is nothing you need to do to prepare. You may want to notify your users of this update.
