M365 Changelog: (Updated) Microsoft Viva Admin center: New capabilities for added flexibility and to manage adoption

MC715691 – Updated March 15, 2024: Microsoft has updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

Microsoft has added new capabilities to the Microsoft Viva Insights Admin center that will make it easier to assign leaders access, measure adoption, and stay informed of key updates.

When this will happen:

Preview: Microsoft will begin rolling out mid-February and expects to complete by early March 2024.

General Availability (Worldwide): Microsoft will begin rolling out late March 2024 (previously early March) and expects to complete by late April 2024 (previously early April).

How this will affect your organization:

New features for administrators to increase flexibility and simplify the admin experience:

  1. Dynamic admin controls for the leader experience: You can now manage access to the leader experience using Azure Active Directory groups, view eligible and enabled users, and troubleshoot reporting issues.
  2. Viva Insights admin welcome email: New Viva Insights admins will receive a personalized email when assigned the role, with guidance on how to set up and use the product, and links to resources and documentation.
  3. Admin center for Viva Insights: A new Admin center tab in on the left navigation of the Viva Insights admin interface shows key metrics for product success, such as deployment, usage, impact, and suggested actions to improve adoption and value.
  4. Viva Insights recommendation cards: Personalized recommendations in the Microsoft 365 admin center help you discover and enable Viva Insights features and nudge you to complete key tasks.
  5. Viva Feature Access management control for digest email: A new control in the admin cmdlet disables the digest welcome email for new users in the tenant.

These features are designed for users who have the Viva Insights Admin role or Global Admin role assigned through Microsoft Entra. Learn more about Microsoft Entra built-in roles.
