M365 Changelog: Install web version of OneDrive as a Progressive Web App (PWA)

MC261535 – You can now install the web version of OneDrive as a Progressive Web App (PWA) in Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Firefox or other browser that supports Progressive Web Apps (with the exception of Safari). After you install the web version of OneDrive as a Progressive Web App, you can launch it from your desktop, and it will work the same way as it does in your web browser.

When this will happen:

Targeted release: Microsoft will begin rolling this out in early July and expect to complete rollout mid-July.

Standard release: Microsoft will begin rolling this out in mid-July and expect to complete rollout early August.

How this will affect your organization:

Users in your organization will be able to install OneDrive Progressive Web App (PWA) on their computers from Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Firefox or other browser that supports Progressive Web Apps (with the exception of Safari). They will be able to pin and launch the app from their computer’s home screen or task bar, and perform the same actions that they are used to when working in the web version of OneDrive.

You might want to notify your users that they can install OneDrive Progressive Web App (PWA) on their computers from Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Firefox or other browser that supports Progressive Web Apps (with the exception of Safari), and update your training and documentation as appropriate.
