This Week in IT, Microsoft announces that Loop 2.0 is gradually rolling out to commercial customers, but has it changed enough to be a serious challenge to Notion? This week’s IT news highlights Microsoft’s gradual rollout of Loop 2.0, the introduction of free security protections for Copilot users, and the return of Windows Recall with enhanced security features.
Microsoft Loop 2.0 Rollout: Microsoft is gradually rolling out Loop 2.0 to commercial customers, introducing a new URL, left-side navigation menu, and enhanced meeting notes functionality.
New Features in Loop: Loop 2.0 includes options to start pages from scratch, reuse existing pages, or use templates, including those created with Copilot.
Loop’s Limitations: Despite improvements, Loop still lacks database functionality and a public gallery for sharing templates, making it less competitive with Notion.
Copilot Security Enhancements: In response to security concerns, Microsoft is providing free enterprise data protection for Copilot users with an entry ID account and extending security controls to prompts and responses.
Windows Recall Returns: Windows Recall is returning with encrypted data storage and biometric authentication, addressing previous security issues.
