M365 Changelog: New default native notification setting for new Teams users
MC271919 – With this change the default Notification Style (specifically for new users) will change to Native Notifications from Teams Built In. This will apply across Windows and Mac.
NOTE: The current default notification style for new users is Teams Built In.
This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 83062
When this will happen:
Microsoft expects this rollout to begin in late August and expect it to be completed by early September.
How this will affect your organization:
New users will be defaulted to receive Native Notifications (rather than Teams Built In) which provide a host of benefits like support for focus assist mode, notifications in action center and OS improvements. A user can choose to change their notification style to settings -> notifications -> notification style.
NOTE: Existing users who have already set their default notification settings will not be affected.
What you need to do to prepare:
There is no specific action required. You may want to update your documentation as needed.
