M365 Changelog: (Updated) Microsoft Stream: Improve audio quality with Noise suppression for Stream (on SharePoint)

MC337955 – Updated June 9, 2022: Microsoft has updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

Get your message across more clearly with Noise suppression for Stream (on SharePoint and OneDrive). Noise suppression helps both creators and viewers isolate speech from ambient noise, music, and other sounds, making voice more intelligible. Noise suppression significantly reduces ambient noise, bringing more clarity to speech in videos. Noise suppression will be available for all Stream Classic content migrated to Stream (on SharePoint and OneDrive) as well as new content including livestreams, Teams meeting recordings, or uploaded videos.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 88949

When this will happen:

  • Targeted Release: Microsoft expects this rollout to begin in early March and be completed by early April – Complete
  • General Availability: Microsoft expects this rollout to begin in early April and expects it to be completed by early September (previously early June)

How this will affect your organization:

Users of SharePoint/OneDrive/Stream will see a ‘Noise Suppression’ button during audio/video playback. Clicking this button will result in playback of an audio track which filters out ambient noise, resulting in a clearer sound.
