M365 Changelog: Microsoft Search Usage reports for Modern Site Collections

MC257055 – Microsoft is rolling out new search usage reports to include top, abandoned, no results queries, impression distribution in addition to query volume trends for the Modern site collection admins.

When this will happen

• Targeted release (select users): will begin late May and should be completed by mid-June 2021.
• Standard Release: will begin mid-June and should be complete by early July 2021.

How this will affect your organization

Users will be able to see reports that include graphs and tables to help visualize data generated from Microsoft search requests initiated from SharePoint modern site collection search boxes.

When rollout is complete, you will see new set of reports in Modern site collection > Site Settings > Microsoft search > Configure search settings > Insights.

Search administrators will be able to view data from the previous 31 days and/or monthly from the previous year.

Note: Historical data will not be immediately available in these reports.
