MC670029 – Updated September 27, 2023: Microsoft wants to clarify that this feature will only be available within the New Teams client. Thank you for your patience.
Microsoft Teams will be bringing workflows powered by Power Automate into the overflow menu for channels and replacing the Connectors option within the menu.
To make sure Microsoft Teams provides the best workflow experience for our users Microsoft is making it easier to configure workflows for channels. From the list of channels users will be able to go into the overflow menu for a specific channel (…) and select “Workflows”. Here they will see a list of workflow templates specific to channels within Teams. Users can then configure these templates to their needs and deploy them to the channel.
This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 131293
When this will happen:
Targeted Release: Microsoft will begin rolling out mid-October 2023 (previously late August) and expect to complete by late October 2023 (previously mid-September).
Standard Release: Microsoft will begin rolling out late October 2023 (previously mid-September) and expect to complete by mid-November 2023 (previously late September).
How this will affect your organization:
Because of their inherent flexibility, scalability, and security, Workflows from Power Automate will replace Connectors in the overflow menu. Connectors will be moved to the channel settings page (“Manage channel” in the overflow menu) where users will still be able to see and manage their existing connectors.
If the Power Automate app is disabled in Teams Admin Center, users will not see this option within the overflow menu.
What you need to do to prepare:
Consider bringing awareness to your users about this change if your tenant relies on Connectors so they know where to find the new entry point.
