M365 Changelog: Viva Learning Webapp Moving to Learning.Cloud.Microsoft

MC680350 – Microsoft is excited to announce that Viva Learning webapp is migrating from https://vivalearning.microsoft.com/ to https://learning.cloud.microsoft/. Viva Learning Webapp will also have self-explanatory and user-friendly links to tabs in Viva Learning.

This migration places the Viva Learning Webapp in the “.microsoft” domain.  After rollout, Viva Learning Webapp URLs will automatically redirect to the “learning.cloud.microsoft” domain. Users will be able to access all the features of the Webapp but under “.microsoft” domain.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 162293 and 163368

When this will happen:

Rollout will begin in mid-October 2023 and is expected to be complete by mid-November 2023.

How this will affect your organization:

To ensure there is no disruption for users, the following are handled by Viva Learning:

  • Any reference to Learning content in the older domain will be supported after the migration.
  • Learning content referenced via “Copy link“, “Teams” share, “Add to Calendar” in older domain will be supported after the migration.
  • Any references to Home page, Tabs in MyLearning in the older domain will be supported after the migration.
  • References to Academy in older domain will be supported after the migration.

What you need to do to prepare:

This domain change will be automatic. Admins may allow list “learning.cloud.microsoft” domain in their allowed domains, if any. Admins may want to inform users of this change and update corresponding URLs of Webapp, if any.
