M365 Changelog: Microsoft Viva: Microsoft Copilot Academy will be included with Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 and Viva licenses – Aug 23, 2024

MC871004 – Microsoft Copilot Academy provides a structured and comprehensive learning experience designed to enable users to master the use of Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 in Microsoft Viva Learning. This rollout will grant access to Copilot Academy to all customers with a Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 license and a Microsoft Viva Learning Seeded or Premium license. Viva Learning seeded access is included as part of Microsoft 365 F0, F3, E3, E5 and Office 365 E1, E2, E3, E5, F2, F3, G3 licenses. Microsoft Viva Learning Premium is available as a standalone license or as a part of the Microsoft Viva Suite license. Copilot Academy will be the same for all customers who meet the licensing requirements.

When this will happen:

General Availability (Worldwide): Microsoft will begin rolling out early September 2024 and expects to complete by early September 2024.

How this will affect your organization:

Before this rollout, customers with the specified licenses may not be able to access Copilot Academy.

After this rollout

Access: Users with the specified licenses can access Copilot Academy in Viva Learning at https://aka.ms/copilot-academy. Users can also access Copilot Academy in the Viva Learning Teams app (if the app is enabled for your tenant) or Viva Learning on the web. Copilot Academy in available in eight languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, and Chinese.

Admin: Knowledge admins and knowledge managers with the specified licenses will be able to enable and disable Copilot Academy in the Viva Learning admin settings (Viva Learning app > Admin > Manage academies)

Notifications: All users with the specified licenses will receive monthly personalized notifications about Copilot Academy in Microsoft Teams.

Content Sources: Copilot Academy content is from Microsoft 365 Training and Microsoft Learn content providers. For the best experience, please ensure these providers are enabled in the Viva Learning admin settings (Viva Learning app > Admin> Manage providers). Only admins with Knowledge manager or Knowledge admin roles will be able to access the Manage providers page.
