M365 Changelog: Microsoft Teams: Upgrades to importing a schedule in the Shifts app

MC716007 – Note: If you are not using frontline worker functionality, you can ignore this message.

In the Microsoft Teams Shifts app, Microsoft is upgrading the user experience for frontline managers who create schedules by importing an Excel file. Frontline managers will be able to track progress on their current imports and have a limited view of their import history.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 381129.

When this will happen:

Standard Release and GCC: Microsoft will begin rolling out mid-March 2024 and expect to complete by late March 2024.

How this will affect your organization:

Frontline managers will be able to:

  • Perform other tasks (such as approve requests) or leave Shifts while their imported schedule is being processed by the system
  • Track the system status (in progress, successfully uploaded, or uploaded with errors) of schedules imported by their team
  • View the 10 latest schedules imported by their team
  • Upload a different Excel file into Shifts while other schedules are being imported.

Frontline managers will not be able to cancel schedule import that are already in progress. Any changes to the imported schedule must be made in Shifts.
