M365 Changelog: (Updated) Microsoft SharePoint Online and Microsoft Stream: New video page templates

Summary

New video page templates are coming to Microsoft SharePoint Online and Microsoft Stream, with a rollout starting in April 2024 for Targeted Release and June 2024 for General Availability. Users will be able to create video pages and news posts directly from the Stream web app. No admin action is required before the rollout.

MC778787 – Updated June 13, 2024: Microsoft has updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

In Microsoft SharePoint Online and Microsoft Stream, Microsoft will release new video page templates for presenting video.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 124823.

When this will happen:

Targeted Release: Microsoft began rolling out early May 2024 and expects to complete by late June 2024.

General Availability (Worldwide, GCC, GCC High, DoD, USSec, USNat): Microsoft will begin rolling out early July 2024 (previously early June) and expects to complete by late July 2024 (previously late June).

How this will affect your organization:

In SharePoint, users will see the new video page templates in the site template menu for both Pages and News.

For the first time ever, a user will soon be able to create a page outside of SharePoint for videos stored on a SharePoint site where a user has editing access:

  1. In the Stream web app, a user with the required editing access can select the new Create video news post button under the Share dropdown menu.
  2. The user can review the new templates and then select Choose template.
  3. After selecting Choose template, the user will land on the page draft on the site where the video is stored.
  4. The user can create a SharePoint page or news post, highlight the desired video(s), and include related documents.

What you need to do to prepare:

This rollout will happen automatically by the specified date with no admin action required before the rollout.

You might want to notify users, update your user training, and prepare your help desk.

Microsoft will update this comm before rollout with revised documentation.
