M365 Changelog: Viva Goals Administrator role for IT admins

MC519906 – Global Admins will now be able to assign a new role called ‘Viva Goals Administrator’ to the IT admins who are tasked with managing Viva Goals policy settings for the company.

When this will happen:

Standard Release: Microsoft will begin rolling out in late February 2023 and expect to complete it by early March 2023

How this will affect your organization:

Viva Goals Administrators can be assigned by Global admins from the Microsoft 365 Admin center. They are typically from the IT team (IT admins) and can manage the Viva Goals settings that apply to the entire company or tenant.

This role is optional. In the absence of a Viva Goals Admin, the Global admin can manage these Viva Goals settings for the company.

Some of the aspects that can be managed by Viva Goals Admins are,

  • Create organizations or configure who can create organizations within Viva Goals.
  • Enable or disable integrations that will be available for all Viva Goals organizations in the tenant.
  • Control the URLs that can be embedded in Viva Goals Dashboards.
  • In the near future (April 2023), they will also be able to administrate an organization on Viva Goals by granting themselves organization admin privileges.
