M365 Changelog: (Updated) Teams apps designed for Outlook and Office.com available for users in Outlook and Office.com

MC334280 – Updated March 31, 2022: Microsoft has updated the content below with a link to a blog with additional details.

To get more done without constantly changing apps, we’re making new Teams apps also available for users in Outlook and Office.com. Users in Targeted Release will be able to acquire and use these apps in Teams, Outlook, or Office.com.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 88942 and 88909

When this will happen:

Targeted release (Office): will begin rolling out in late February and is expected to complete rollout by late May.

Targeted release (Outlook): will begin rolling out in late March and is expected to complete rollout by late May.

How this will affect your organization:

Users in Targeted Release will soon see apps available in Outlook and Office.com that were previously available only in Teams. These new apps are subject to the same Teams administration policies available at admin.teams.microsoft.com.  Apps may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

What you need to do to prepare:

You might want to notify your users about this change and update your training and documentation as appropriate.

We’ve published additional guidance to manage access to Teams apps across Microsoft 365.
