Upcoming FREE Conference on Identity Management and Privileged Access Management
MC516354 – Outlook for Mac will soon transition from a monthly update cycle to a weekly update cycle. By providing faster updates, Microsoft will be able to provide you with new features and product updates more quickly.
When this will happen:
Microsoft will begin rolling out in late March 2023 and the rollout will complete in early April 2023.
How this will affect your organization:
Today, Outlook for Mac updates are released monthly. By default, updates are automatically downloaded in the background, and applied when the user restarts Outlook.
The new release cadence applies to both New Outlook and classic Outlook users. Additionally, you will receive weekly updates regardless of whether you downloaded Outlook from the Mac App Store, or directly from Microsoft.
Currently, there is no change in release cadence to other apps such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
What you need to do to prepare:
No action is necessary. However, you may wish to inform helpdesk staff that users will receive more regular updates that include new features.
