MC317660 – This feature update will enable Information Barriers (IB) with Teams to support the following two modes – Open and Owner Moderated.
When this will happen:

Microsoft will begin rolling this out in mid-February and expect to complete it by mid-April.
How this will affect your organization:
With this change, Open Mode will be the default mode for all existing teams and groups that were provisioned before information barriers were enabled on the tenant. In this mode, no IB policies are applicable. After information barriers are enabled, Implicit becomes the default mode for any new groups or teams created.
What you need to do to prepare:

For all new tenants onboarding onto IB, if you want to bring all existing teams to compliance, the mode must be updated from Open to Implicit by following the steps documented in Info Barriers Mode Update. Tenants that have IB enabled have no action required at this time.
