This is the message I get when trying to boot in my XP system:

“Windows XP could not start because of missing or corrupt windows/system32/config/system

I tried the CDs repair but I’m not sure what to type after it says which system do you want to repair.

I type 1 and the it shows
    c:/windows>

    Now what…?

I typed chkdsk and had it check the disk…it’s ok…then I typed cd and went into c:/windows/system32/config/system and displayed the dir…..I see the system file that’s supposidly corrupt (virus maybe)…..how do I fix this from here.

    Thanks to whoever can help…..
