Compared to the access times from a Windows 2000 Pro station my Windows XP professional SP2 stations load the network shares very slowly.
The network shares are NOT on the Windows 2003 server but on another Windows 2000 Pro station. I’m currently running WinXP Pro clients w/ SP2 and all the latest updates and some Win2k clients with SP4. This issue only shows up on the XP clients not on the Win2K machines. I searched MSDN for articles regarding this issue. I’ve also tried modifying the registry according to the following Article ID#s:
When I try accessing the share files through another program for instance Photoshop or Word the access time increase to 4 minutes through WinXP compared to 3 to 4 seconds through Win2K Pro. I’m hoping not to have to wait until maybe Microsoft comes up with a fix on their next service pack for XP Pro.
