Im having difficulty pushing out WLMv8.0 through Group Policy, and was wondering if anyone has had success with this in their environment.

My process has been to –

    – extract the MSI file (MsnMsgs.msi) from Install_Messenger_nous.exe
    – create a new computer GPO (Assigned) with default software install settings pointing to the MsnMsgs.msi file
    – link-enable to the workstations GPO but for the time being Im using security filtering towards target pc(s)

Upon startup, the software installation attempts to run however soon after fails. The event logs information states simply ‘fatal error during installation’, I have checked in the WindowsDebugUsermodeUserenv.log file and it states –

USERENV(1e8.6d0) 14:25:08:375 ProcessGPOs: Extension Software Installation ProcessGroupPolicy failed, status 0x643

I’ve read elsewhere that WLM cant even be deployed through GP, whether or not this is confirmed I dont know.
