We’re having a problem with a Win2000 TS in application mode.

Some users are getting error message when trying to connect (error in licensing protocol). Also, event ID 1004 is logged on the Win2000 server. That server does NOT have a licensing server configured for it, which i’m confident is the problem. However, there is no 2003 DC available to install licensing service on them.

Simple question, should i just install licensing service on a Win2008 DC to provide the Win2000 with a licensing server ?

Another question, do we need to buy TS licenses for the clients (it’s a mixed environment of WinXP, Vista, Win7 and 2008) ?

I know Win2000 isn’t supported since June 2010 and we’re planning on upgrading it. Depending on the cost to resolve this issue, we might make the move faster.

    Best regards,
