I’ve noticed over the past few weeks our server has been a bit sluggish and I’ve also started receiving a few alerts in my email. Unfortunately the IT work in our company is pretty neglected so it’s been sat festering.

The most recent which we’ve not had before is Disk Activity Alert, looking at the logs the disk busy time has increased from 17% to 25% in the past month. I’m not sure if that’s particulary high or not.

We have a single hard drive split into 2 partitions (backed up daily) one partition with the OS on and the other with shared files and WSUS on.

Along with all the files shared across the network we have our Sage data sat there constantly accessed by a few users via SQL.

Does this seem like high usage? Is there anything we can do to increase hard drive performance? Is it a lot of hard work to switch to a RAID setup at this stage?

SQL has always hovered around the 550MB mark but I’m going to dig through this when I have time.

Any help with the other is appreciated.
