I thought I could run the “setup /prepareschema” command from the Exchange-to-be machine. An error appears and then I read this in an article: “…the installer will do all the AD preparation automatically. That does not mean that you cannot do it manually, in fact I’d suggest doing it manually on the Schema Master…” The error showing up in the Exchange server is sort of: “I cannot find Active Directory, and I cannot place this machine in any site.” But as far as I know, sites only list the DCs , this is what made me think I should run “setup /prepareschema” from a DC.
