Setup connectors in Exchange 2010 for 2 servers

Hi experts,

Need your help here.

We have 2 new exchange server (name M1 and M2) and currently trying to setup a connectors
All the mailboxes are in M2.

Now; we want all the emails are flowing to M1 then goes to outside world (internet). Same thing as from the external email; the external email going to M1 first then go to M2

We also want to setup a connector from M2 that goes straight to the Internet (lower cost) if M1 is down or the link on M1 is down

I just bit confuse whether I have to create an Internal, Internet, Partner or custom connector in Exchange 2010

Please advise.
