At the moment we have Server 2008 x86 as the dc running all the usual dc stuff, dns, dhcp, gc and so on, but as you cant upgrade from x86 to x64 how would we do it? Im figuring we would have to install a new server then promote it to a dc and then demote and remove the old one? If we install the new server can we promote it then give it the old dc’s name and ip address? Im assuming we cant, but if we could it would save us from lots of reconfiguring.
