Computer A running win98, has a printer connected to it’s LPT port (or USB, doesn’t matter – just comes to show that it’s not a network printer but a shared printer on a computer). Computer B running XP has connects to the shared printer but is unable to direct it’s own LPT1 port to that network printer on computer A. This function was easily available on 95, 98 and 2000, but for some reason does not seem to exist on XP. I know that the NET USE command can do it but I’m looking for the settings to be saved by windows and stay there after bootup. In addition, the old method also displayed the routing in the port listing under the printer’s properties-ports scree.

    Any suggestions?
