When we setup printers on workstations, we set them with local ports (eg \printserverprinter)
Ive always used as thats whats used for UNC paths, but / seems to work on Xp as well, although Im not sure about it as it doesnt show in Xp as a proper networked printer then, and this morning I had a problem where a job would spool for 2 minutes before printing with / , yet printed in seconds with

However theres a technician here who insists on using as he just copies it from the printer administration site. Ive told him not to but I know he still does it. Is there a compelling, proper reason I can tell him why not to use / ?

Sorry for all the slashes :p
