Over in the Virtual PC/Server forum, Tonyyeb asked if there is any way to mount virtual PC/Server drives from the host OS, without running or using the virtual machine. Someone responded that winimage can do this in its new Beta version.

I wanted to point out, over here in the vmware forum, that this is possible with vmware too. In fact, it has been possible for a long with using a tool that vmware offers for download (for free).

The tool is called diskimage. It can mount VMware disks and they are mapped like a regular hard drive.

You can download this tool at-
    http://www.vmware.com/download/ws/drivers_tools.html

    I hope this helps out,
    David

  • How should guests be offboarded?
  • How should you determine who has access to sensitive information in your environment?
