I have two computers on my domain that are having trouble access their local profile when logging in, in the morning. This problem only seems to happen in the mornings and on Mondays most the time. The user will come in and hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete and enter their user name and password. After this you will get two error messages the first one said “Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible causes of this error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator”. After that you will get the second one which states “Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off.” Once you get into the system it has basically created you a temp profile that is missing all your desktop shortcuts and everything else that’s related to your profile. Once you reboot the system everything seems to load just fine with the right profile!

Here are the error messages in the event viewer:

    1st
    EVENT ID: 1508
Windows was unable to load the registry. This is often caused by insufficient memory or insufficient security rights.

DETAIL – The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. for C:Documents and Settingsuserprofilentuser.dat

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

    2nd
    EVENT ID: 1502
Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible causes of this error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator.

DETAIL – The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

    3rd
    EVENT ID: 1515
Windows has backed up this user’s profile. Windows will automatically try to use the backed up profile the next time this user logs on.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

    4th
    EVENT ID: 1511
Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I have looked on the Internet but it seems noone has a straight answer for fixing this problem or why it is happening.
