I am kind of surprised that while PATH displays the content of the variable, typing JAVA_HOME does not, is this some weird behaviour in Windows?

I have Windows Server version SP 2.

    wsPowerShellv1.0; C:Program FilesJavajdk1.8.0_20bin;C:
    Program FilesMySQLMySQL Server 5.5bin

‘JAVA_HOME’ is not recognized as an internal or external comm
    operable program or batch file.

When checking through the UI, System Environment Variables the following values are indicated:
    Variable Value
    JAVA_HOME C:Program FilesJavajdk1.7.0_51bin – User variable for administrator
    JAVA_HOME C:Program FilesJavajdk1.7.0_51bin – System variable

The path seems to contain the usual java executables, however, later version of Java are installed, and, I have not quite updated the environment variables to point to C:Program FilesJavajre1.8.0_25bin as yet.
