We are running Exchange 2007 on a server, and external Outlook clients are getting the certificate
warning “The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site” every
time they connect. The name on the valid SSL certificate is remote.domain.com, and, of course,
Outlook is going to autodiscover.domain.com, so the reason for the error is obvious. But I believe
there is a way to configure the server so that the single name certificate can be used for both the named
domain and autodisover, thus saving the high expense of a SAN certificate with multiple names. Is this
correct? If so, could someone please help with a concise explanation of how this is accomplished,
whether through autodiscover settings, DNS, or some other way?
