I’d like to setup and learn Exchange 2013 on my server at home, but my ISP (Optus) does not provide static IP addresses to cable users. How can I run up and use an Exchange server and get around being blacklisted etc with a dynamic IP?
I’ve read a bit about smarthosts and DDNS and think that one of these may in fact be the solution to this issue, though the latter I believe has risks with being blocked.
Because we are so far away from the phone exchange we gave up on the painful speeds and dropouts of ADSL2+ and moved to Cable, so unfortunately ADSL is not an option, which could have had a static IP. We also no longer have a home phone, so I can’t even do dial up (*shudder*).
Finally, as this is personal I’d prefer to keep the costs as low as possible, without writing off the fact that I may in fact have to spend some money to make this work.
