I have an Exchange 2010 mail server hosting all roles. Its used for sending and receiving emails into our domain.
I noticed some delivery queues in recent times to yahoo, hotmail, gmail and other SMTP domains. I therefore run the ExRCA on the server.
I noticed some errors, for SPF and also the PTR record sections.
After some research I have successfully created the SPF record using the command v=spf1 mx -all in the TXT record. Everything seems okay now for SPF.
How do I create the PTR record for my NATed public exchange server address?
Do I need to contact my ISP or create this locally on my local DNS server.
The error I receive is as follows:
Performing Outbound SMTP Test
The outbound SMTP test failed.
Test Steps
Attempting reverse DNS lookup for IP address 12.13.14.15, (generic public IP).
Reverse DNS lookup failed.
Additional Details
IP address 12.13.14.15 doesn’t have a PTR record in DNS.
