x.tld , a Windows 2003 Active Directory ex2003.x.tld , an Exchange 2003 server
y.tld , a new Windows 2008 Active Directory (functional level Windows 2003) ex2010.y.tld , a new Exchange 2010 server
There is no trust relationship between these two forests.
We are in the process of creating a new Active Directory, as part of an office move.
Part of the move will involve upgrading from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010.
What is the best way to migrate mailboxes over?
FYI: Instead of migrating user accounts, the current plan is to simply create new accounts, although that may be subject to change.
The best method I could come up with, given the lack of trust relationship, is to simply export each users’ e-mail from Exchange 2003 to a PST file and then re-import it into their new Exchange 2010 mailbox.
Are there any better ideas? Or anything wrong with this plan?
