I just made a Flickr group called “Ghetto IT” that I’d like to have populated with photo documentation of people’s most slipshod solutions. We’ve all had to stick things together with duct tape and bailing wire at one point or another. There’s no shame in that. Let’s share the grief together.
Here’s a snippet from the group’s description:
This group is for photo evidence of you or “your friend’s” make-shift solutions. Not to jeer at, of course, for we’ve all had to make due with less than we want (or even need). Keep it civil and constructive.
Photos can be about anything IT related that strays from “best practices” or is downright borked. Duct tape on cell phones, servers propped up with broomsticks, switches and routers getting current from an exercise bike, tire tracks on a laptop… you get the idea.
