M365 Changelog: Customize the properties for the Yammer Communities app in Teams

The Microsoft Teams admin will soon be able to customize the following properties for the Yammer Communities app in Teams within their tenant:

• App name
• App description
• App icons
• Accent color

When this will happen:

Microsoft expects this rollout to be completed in July (previously June). If you see that the Communities app version is greater than v.2.2.3, then the functionality has been enabled in your tenant.

How this will affect your organization:

There are no automatic changes for end users. The Microsoft Teams admin will now be able to customize different properties on the Communities app. Customizing the app is perfect for companies that have given their Yammer network custom branding that fits with their corporate identity. Additionally, you can change the Yammer app icon to one that reflects communities, or change the app name to “Yammer”.

Work with your corporate communication team to determine if a change in branding for the Communities app is desired. Then communicate the changes and update documentation if appropriate.
