M365 Changelog: Customizable website tabs in Teams Templates
MC244741 – This new Microsoft Teams release will add an additional functionality to team templates enabling admins to specify URLs for website tabs for channels in custom team templates.
This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 70794.
When this will happen
We will begin rolling this out in late March and expect to complete rollout by early April.
How this will affect your organization
End users will no longer need to set up website tabs with URLs in Teams. Admins can now do this at scale with customizable website tabs that are preset to the specified site for end users who create teams from templates.
Note: The existing custom templates feature is not applicable for EDU. If you are an EDU tenant, please disregard the message.
What you need to do to prepare
You might want to notify your users about this new capability and update your training and documentation as appropriate.
